Creating a New Project

Use project folders to help organize the different tests that you create. For example, you might want to create a project for a new Web application that you are developing, and then create a series of tests in that project that test different aspects of the application.

To create a new project using the New Project icon:

  1. Click the New Project icon or select File > New > Project.
  2. Enter a name for the project, and then click the Browse button to select the directory in which you want to save the project.

NOTE: Only alphanumeric characters, underscores, and dashes are allowed in the project name.

  3. Select the Add ThreatEx Profiles to New Project checkbox, if you want Avalanche Commander to include ThreatEx files in your project.

IMPORTANT: This is legacy ThreatEx functionality, which may not be supported in the future. It is recommended that you transition to using the latest update ThreatEx database functionality.

    NOTES:

    • Avalanche Commander automatically checks all of your license files for the ThreatEx feature, which can be time consuming. So, ensure that you have purchased the ThreatEx feature before using this option. If the license check takes more than three seconds, a waiting dialog displays.
    • If the ThreatEx feature is not licensed, an error dialog displays.
    • You can choose to include the ThreatEx files at a later time, by selecting Tools > Attack > Attack Profiles (Legacy)... from the main menu.
  4. Click Finish. The project name appears in your list of projects in the navigation tree.
