Using the Traffic Wizard: Endpoints

Background: Using the Traffic Wizard

Select endpoints for the traffic pattern in the Endpoints step. If no endpoints are created (hosts, session blocks, routes, etc.), only active ports are displayed.

TIP: You can click the Reset button in the lower left wizard corner to reset all values in the Traffic wizard and return to the first page of the wizard.

Field Description
Distribution

Select the traffic distribution type between endpoints.

Type Description
Fully meshed Traffic is transmitted from every port to every other port
Backbone Traffic is transmitted in a partially meshed pattern, either uni- or bidirectionally
Pair Traffic is transmitted between one or more port pairs, either uni- or bidirectionally
Filter Use the Protocol and Encapsulation lists to filter the endpoints displayed in the Source and Destination boxes.
Orientation Select traffic direction: Unidirectional or Bidirectional. Click the Switch Src/Dest button to switch source and destination endpoints.
Endpoints Mapping Select the traffic distribution for each endpoint within host blocks: One-to-one or Many-to-many.
Tunnel Binding Select the protocol to use to bind the inner tunnel.
Stream only generation

Select to generate a separate stream for each flow. Creates one stream for each flow, a unique source and destination pair.

Clear to aggregate streams. Creates a stream containing multiple unique flows.

Show all headers Select the checkbox to show all protocol headers.
Bypass IP Subnet Checking Select to bypass subnet checking for bound streams when source and destination addresses are both Ethernet/IP.
Gw As Dest Mac Select to use the resolved gateway MAC address as the destination MAC address.
Source and Destination

Select the source and destination pairs to add by clicking the related checkboxes.

  • Use Select Multiple Ports to quickly select ports.
  • Enter a Node Filter character string to filter a long or complex node list.
  • Use the Copy Selection feature to reduce traffic pattern set up time.

If Pair is selected in the Distribution field, click the Add button to add the pairs to the configuration in the bottom Pairs pane.

TIP: See Spirent TestCenter Filtering and Regular Expressions to read about how you can use filtering and regular expressions to filter the source and destination port trees.
