Assign Variables

Use ASSIGN VARIABLE to assign a literal value, forms database information, concatenation, or random numbers, letters, or characters to a variable. You can also erase a variable. After you assign a variable, use APPLY to associate it with an item. Assigning variables provides a convenient way to assign a large string of information to one variable name, making for cleaner, easier code to read.

Uniform Distribution

Assign random number inclusive between two bounds. The lower bound does not need to appear first in the syntax. The following two examples provide the same result, assigning a number between 10 and 50.
ASSIGN VARIABLE <myvar6 UNIFORM 10 50>

ASSIGN VARIABLE <myvar6 UNIFORM 50 10>
Assign random number inclusive between two negative bounds. Avalanche does not recognize the negative bounds as negative numbers, but instead uses the absolute value of the number. For example, the following assigns a number between 5 and 20.
ASSIGN VARIABLE <myvar6 UNIFORM -5 -20>
Assign zero for the limit

ASSIGN VARIABLE <myvar8 UNIFORM 0 0>

Normal Distribution

Assign a variable with a normal distribution (bell curve), applied to the range that you specify in the lower/upper bound arguments. Avalanche maps your range to a bell curve with a mean=0.5 and standard deviation=0.1.

ASSIGN VARIABLE <myvar6 NORMAL lower_bound upper_bound>

Sequential Examples

Assign sequential number inclusive between two bounds. The lower bound does not need to appear first in the syntax. The following two examples provide the same result, assigning a number starting with the lower bound (10), incrementing by one each time, until reaching the upper bound (50), and then going back to the lower bound (10).
ASSIGN VARIABLE <myvar6 SEQUENTIAL 10 50>

Assign sequential number inclusive between two negative bounds. Avalanche does not recognize the negative bounds as negative numbers, but instead uses the absolute value of the number. For example, the following assigns a number starting from 5, and incrementing until 20.
