Runtime Statistics Window

Use the Run-Time Stats button on the Run Monitor tab to open the Runtime Statistics window. This window displays run-time charts and graphical client and server statistics for the test in progress, which you can create/modify during runtime.

The Statistics Navigation tree in the left frame allows you to traverse and select the desired statistics windows to display in the right frame's Statistics viewing area, as well as create/view Custom Graphs. You can also save Statistics View profiles that you create.

The Runtime Statistics window consists of the following fields, areas, and options:

Field Description
Main menu
Status line Line below main menu to display status, warnings, and errors.
Vertical buttons
Statistics Navigation tree

TIP: Select the checkbox for the statistics that you want to display in the right frame's Statistics viewing area, and deselect the checkbox to remove them.

Icons:
Folder Higher-level statistic groupings, such as Client, Server, Custom Graphs, network model layers, and application protocols.
Chart Charts or tables with included parameters as child nodes.
Graph Line graph with included parameters as child nodes.
Text Textual data with included parameters as child nodes.
Bar graph Bar graph with included parameters as child nodes.
Data node Data points shown as child nodes.
High-level folders:
Client Folder containing all client statistic groupings. For detailed client statistic information, see Client Run-Time Statistics.
Server Folder containing all server statistic groupings. For detailed server statistic information, see Server Run-Time Statistics.
SNMP Folder containing SNMP statistics. For detailed SNMP statistic information, see SNMP Statistics Window.
Custom Graph Folder containing all Custom Graphs. You create a new Custom Graph window by right-clicking Custom Graph and selecting Create custom chart from the drop-down menu. (Alternatively, you can select Statistics followed by Create custom chart from the main menu.)   The Configure Custom Chart window appears with the following fields that you configure:
  • Chart title: The chart/graph name (maximum of 200 characters).
  • Chart type: Select a chart/graph type from the drop-down menu. (Currently, only Line Chart is supported.)
  • Data points: Using the mouse, drag and drop Data nodes (or a parent node for a group) from the Statistics Navigation tree into the list.
    Button Description
    Moves the selected data point up one position.
    Moves the selected data point down one position.
    Deletes the selected data point.
NOTE: Up to 5 data points are allowed in a Custom Graph window. (If you attempt to add more, they will not display.)
TIP: Once you have created a Custom Graph window, you can also drag and drop Data nodes from the Statistics Navigation tree directly into the window.
Right-click options

Depending on the icon type, the following right-click options are available in the Statistics Navigation tree:

  • Expand/Collapse all: For a folder, expand or collapse all its subfolders/nodes within the tree.
  • Hide/Show: For any statistic type, hide or show in the right frame (same functionality as the checkbox).
  • Copy to Clipboard: For any graph, copy the graphic window to the clipboard.
  • Save As PNG: For any graph, save the graphic window as a .png file.
  • Reset: For any graph, clear all plotted points and continue plotting new points.
  • Drill down: For any statistic type's data point grouping, view data point values for specific entities/ports. A dialog box appears, which allows you to select multiple data points and entities/ports to be included, using arrow buttons to add/remove from the "Lines to be shown" list. Click the Show on new chart button to create a custom chart displaying these values.
  • Create custom chart with this data point: For any data node, create a custom chart displaying this data point.
Statistics View profiles
Save current view as Name under which to save the currently displayed right frame's Statistics viewing area.
Select view The currently selected view profile name from the list of saved profiles.
Buttons  
  • Copy: Copy the selected view profile. Displays a dialog box in which you name the copied view profile.
  • Delete: Delete the selected view profile. Displays a dialog box for confirmation.

  • Rename: Rename the selected view profile. Displays a dialog box in which you rename the view profile.

  • Open: Open the selected view profile in the right frame's Statistics viewing area.

Saved view profiles List of saved view profile names. Use the Open button or double-click a name to display in the right frame's Statistics viewing area.
Statistics viewing area
Statistics windows From the Statistics Navigation tree, you select the checkbox for the statistics that you want to display in the Statistics viewing area. Separate statistics windows appear in the right frame for each checkbox that you select.
Window buttons If you have multiple statistics windows displayed in the Statistics viewing area, you can click any of the titled buttons at the top of the right frame to bring a particular window to the foreground.
Right-click options  

Graph right-click options:

  • Zoom In: Select to zoom in on the Time Axis, Values Axis, or Both Axes.
  • Zoom Out: Select to zoom out of the Time Axis, Values Axis, or Both Axes.
  • Reset Zoom: Restore the window's default zoom setting, showing the latest 120 time intervals, and the values axis from 0 to the maximum value.
  • Show All: Show the values axis from 0 to the maximum value, and all times on the time axis.
  • Copy to Clipboard: See Copy to Clipboard in Statistics Navigation tree.
  • Save As PNG: See Save As PNG in Statistics Navigation tree.
  • Show Previous Statistics: Display a pop-up menu of previous time frames, from which you can choose to show statistics within that time frame. (This option is not available until the test has run for one hour.)
  • Show Current Statistics: Display the current run-time statistics (useful after displaying previous statistics).
  • Properties: Display the Chart Properties dialog box, in which you can select/deselect data points to be viewed in the statistics window, as well as modify their display colors.
  • Reset: See Reset in Statistics Navigation tree.
  • Drill down: See Drill down in Statistics Navigation tree.
  • Hide/Show: See Hide/Show in Statistics Navigation tree.
  • Edit custom chart: Display the Configure Custom Chart window (for custom graphs only).

Chart/table right-click options:

  • Create custom chart with this data point: See Create custom chart in Statistics Navigation tree.
  • Copy value of [data point name]: Copy the selected data point row to the clipboard.
  • Copy all values: Copy all rows to the clipboard.
  • Change color for [data point name]: Change the display color of the selected data point.
  • Hide: Hide the selected data point.
Toolbar See graph right-click options for descriptions of corresponding icons in the statistics window's toolbar.
Graph Table area

The lower area of the graph statistics window allows you to view the graph's data points as a table that is continuously updated. This table displays the graph's legend with the latest values. You can double-click a row to modify the data point's display color, or use chart right-click options, including Change color for [data point name].
