Server Ports Tab

Use the Server Ports tab to configure various features on a per-port basis. The tab contains a table that you maintain by adding and removing rows. Each row defines a different configuration, and a sub-tab displays the Virtual Router configuration.

Field Description
Ports Table Fields:
RowID Incremental row number. (This field is read-only.)
Port

Click the field and select from the drop-down menu to select a port to configure. If you have not yet added a hardware platform through the Administration menu, port selections are not available. However, you can select unspecified:n from the Port drop-down menu to proceed with configuration without a specific port assignment.

NOTE: You can use the Ports preferences to choose to display only the ports that you have reserved.

Host NDP (IPv6 only)

Select to enable NDP (Neighbor Discovery Protocol). IPv6 nodes use NDP to discover other nodes on the link, to determine the link-layer addresses of other nodes on the link, to find routers, and to maintain reachability information about the paths to active neighbors.

NOTES:

  • If you disable Host NDP when using an emulated router, only emulated router neighbor solicitation occurs (no host neighbor solicitation).
  • Hosts refer to your IPv6 address configuration in the Server Subnets tab.
Gratuitous ARP (IPv4 only)

Select to broadcast an Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) request with the port's IPv4 address at the beginning of each test. This ensures that a device connected to the port has the correct ARP cache data.

NOTES:

  • If you disable Gratuitous ARP when using an emulated router, only emulated router ARP messages are generated (no host ARP messages).
  • Hosts refer to your IPv4 address configuration in the Server Associations tab.
