Using the Edit Interface Dialog

Use the Edit Interface dialog box to configure packet properties for a host or a router:

  1. Navigate to the protocol configuration tabs using either of the following methods in the system tree at the left of the Test Configuration window:

    • Click All Devices
    • Expand All Ports, expand a port node, and then click Devices under the port node.
  2. Click the Emulated Device Interface tab.
  3. Click in the Encapsulation column associated with the device you want to edit, and then click the ellipsis button to display the Edit Interface dialog box.
  4. Select Layer 3 and Layer 2 protocols from the Upper Layer and Lower Layer panes to insert additional protocols into the interface.

    Protocols available for insertion depend on the test selected and the test modules used.

  5. Field Description
    Upper Layer

    Select Layer 3 encapsulations for the interface.

    NOTE: You must select Ethernet II to enable the VLAN stacking and PPPoE.

    Lower Layer

    Select Layer 2 encapsulations for the interface.

  6. Click OK when setup is complete.
